ASD 1.0, ASD 2.0, ASD 3.0

Sep 2019 - Feb 2020

This initiative was a programme held weekly, that had three phases that spanned from September 2019 until February 2020. It was targeted at Freshmore students who were keen on taking architecture in pillar year and sought to prepare them for what they would learn in architecture and also prepare them them for internship application.

ASD 1.0 mainly focused on giving Freshmores a sneak peek into ASD. Participants were introduced to the idea of space and usage, with a project to intervene selected spaces to increase interactivity.

ASD 2.0 comprised of students finding and defining a personal area of interest (an “agenda”); scoping and embracing a specific aspect for exploration; exploring and define a methodology for exploration; applying the methodology into the design exploration for a project and then presenting and articulating the development of the project in a coherent manner. Students worked singly or in pairs; and worked together with their assigned mentor to use the issued design projects 1 and 2 as vehicles for exploration of their “agenda”.

ASD 3.0 mainly imparted indispensable architecture-related skills to students. Students learnt how to use softwares such as AutoCAD and Revit to design 2D and 3D models and learnt how to take dimensions as well as read architectural plans. The end goal for ASD 3.0 was to teach Freshmore students how to make use of commonly used software in architecture firms to create their portfolio.
